Starting Off - 12WBT May 2012
I have been putting off getting serious about my health for a few months, five to six if i was really honest. My eating has been off track since July but thanks to the skiing i was doing on the weekend my weight did not change much. Some half hearted attempts to get back on track resulted but a couple of days/weeks my motivation would drop.
About 8 weeks ago I went back to the gym signed up for personal training to keep me in line. I figured whilst i got back into the habit it would be good to have someone i had committed too. It helped - i was starting to exersice again and i was in pain for the first few weeks. It was good to get back at it. My food was good for the first few weeks and then started to go pair shaped. Whilst my goal was to lose 16kg in the 12 weeks. I only achieved 3 in 6. I knew i needed something more.
I have done JC and WW before in the past whilst both worked i did not keep the weight off. Neither did i get to my goal weight. I always ended up heavier than before. I was seeing a dietitian last year which was good for the food advice but did not have the support that i needed when things started going off track.
I was starting to think about what to do food wise - a few people that i know have had success on 12WBT and i liked that it was as much about the exercise as the food. I'm great at losing weight - not so good at keeping it off. I really like the principles behind the 12 week program. 12 weeks is a good timeline to focus on. short enough that you can see the end in sight but long enough that i will see the results.
I have given myself a pretty big goal of losing 20kg in the next 12 weeks. I will be super happy with anything over 16 but i really want 20kg. I think its achievable on this program- it seems like if you follow the program you can get some great results. I have a long journey ahead with 45-51kg total to be lost. I lost 2kg before the challenge started and am seeing great results with 1.9kg gone in the first two days. I know that that progress will will slow down but it is very motivational seeing the hard work pay off.
Week 1
Week one is almost over and i am happy to say that i managed to do the 6 days of exercise. I have moved them around a little as i do yoga on Monday. So its Yoga - Monday, Toning - Tuesday, Cardio - Wednesday, Toning - Thursday, Cardio - Friday, SSS - Saturday and rest Sunday.
Well i have to say by friday i was starting to loose momentium. Boy was i tired but when in the past i would have given up this time i said JFDI. I had planned for a walk on friday but got stuck at work so missed the sunlight.
But instead of not doing it like in the past - i got the workout video up and started doing it. I have a foot injury so cant do to much impact work - but it was great for the days when things dont go to plan.
I have to say that my week has pretty much totally evolved around 12WBT the food, the exersice and getting orgainised for the next day.
I have gotten myself into a bad habit of not getting enough sleep so for the next two weeks i am really focusing on getting into bed early enough. That means switching the computer and tv off at 9:30 and then lights off at 10pm so that i get enough sleep. I have really started to feel the difference. I was already out of bed before 8am on a sunday amazing.
I am looking forward to getting more energy because i am wiped out by 10 each evening. But i know that all the hard work will be worth it.
The Program - 12WBT
I have been really impressed with how good the program is, the exercise plan - so easy to customize as is the meal plan. I am loving the mindset videos and felt that the preseason tasks meant that i would be off to a great start. The forum seem great and i cant wait to get more involved.
Probably the only thing that i would like is single serves recipes - sometimes it makes it hard to figure out what i need for each meal and shopping can be a pain. It would be great to be able to choose how many people it was for and all the items multiplied by what is needed.
But all up i am loving the program. I can't wait to see where i will be in 11 weeks :) and the amazing results i will be getting.
I don't think all the other posts will be as long but it was really good to get it out and to be able to look back on where i was.
